The Dreams of Queen Trishla

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

They spoke about the birth of a Thirtankara

The twenty-fourth Jina!

 

The first dream was of a lion so magnificent and handsome,

It spoke of someone who would be fearless and able to rule the globe!

 

The beautiful four tusked elephant came second,

Speaking of someone who would save the world!

 

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

Then came the wonderful bull that was so pure,

Saying son would be the world’s greatest teacher!

 

Then she saw the powerful Goddess of wealth Goddess Laxmi,

Showing that her son would get great wealth, power, and prosperity!

 

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

Then she saw coming from the sky celestial pair of garlands,

Showing that her son’s teaching would spread across the universe!

 

In the sixth dream the full moon gloriously shone, 

Showing that her son will bring peace to the world!

 

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

In the seventh dream a huge sun took away darkness with its light,

Telling her son would destroy all bad and evil with his teaching so bright!

 

In her eighth dream on a golden stick a large flag did fly

Showing that her son would be noble leader of the family!

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

Then she saw a beautiful silver kalash full of crystal-clear water,

 Showing that her son’s perfection would make the earth much better!

 

In the tenth dream there was a splendid lotus lake,

Showing a great person freeing us from birth, death and sadness!

 

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

In the eleventh dream she saw the plentiful milky sea,

Telling that her son would be the 24th Jina, setting his soul free!

 

In the twelfth dream came the bejewelled celestial airplane,

Showing all gods and goddesses will respect and obey the one to be born!

 

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

Precious gems of all wonderful hues filled the thirteenth dream,

Telling that the child would have countless virtues and wisdom!

 

In the fourteenth dream the smokeless fire shone bright,

 Saying that her son would set everyone on path that’s right!

 

Queen Trishla had such wonderful dreams,

Full of beauty they must have been.

 

The Digambar tradition speak of two more wonderful dreams,

Making   Queen Trishla’s dreams a total of sixteen!  

 

In the fifteenth dream were two fishes swimming to and fro,

Telling the world of the coming of a child so handsome and true!

 

The sixteenth dream showed a lofty golden throne,

Showing a child who would be truly divine!

 

After these amazing dreams awoke the Queen,

Her dreams filled her with so much wonder.

Soon was born to her a child they called Vardhamana,

He was to be the Arihant; Lord Mahavira.
