JAIN IDOL ON AUCTION

Famous Auction House of the world "Sothebys" is going to auction a
ancient 10th Century Jain Tirthankar idol of 20 inch height. The auctioneer has
given following details in the catalogue -

JAIN TIRTHANKARA RED SANDSTONE WESTERN OR CENTRAL INDIA
height 20 in. (50.8 cm.)
circa 10th Century.
Carved in relief with the Jina seated in padmasana on a throne supported by two
lions, his meditative face with heavy-lidded almond-shaped eyes set beneath
arched eyebrows, his finely grooved hair drawn back from his forehead, a
standing male chauri bearer on his left.
