Jai Jinendra ,

Respected Sir/madam                                                                                                                                                Date:             09-02-2008

Snaps of statues of  Lord Shri Shri Parshwanathji  are attached herewith. These statues are in a cave of PACHAR hill situated 4 (four) Km in south of  Rafiganj  Railway Station  in the district  of Aurangabad ( Bihar ).

Once upon a time, this place was hub of Jainism. Archeological remains segregated around this cave indicates it was epicenter of Jain- Saints. Pilgrims visiting this place use to feel  sense of divine  presence. The villages of its vicinity bears the names taken from jain literatures. One  village’s name ‘Sarawak/Shrawak’  is  directly linked to jain literatures. The village ‘Pachar’ seems to be taken from the activities of  Pracharak( preacher).

By  efforts of local Jain families of Rafiganj, some renovation of cave   has been done and pilgrims have started pouring. Despite the region is naxal infested, local villagers have never been hostile to visitors rather they use to welcome their guest with utmost pleasure. Local people once chased the statue smugglers who were trying to steal heavy statues in nights. Hindu-mass often use to visit this cave temple and offer their prayer.

A fair is organized every year on the occasion of  Rakshabandhan ( Shrawna Purnima).  It is supposed that This deity and cave temple  has divine blessings to fulfill the wish of people.

This place is connected to Rafiganj by pitch road. The railway station Rafiganj is approx 80 Km west from Prarshnath ( Sammed Shikharji) and 5th station from Gaya towards Delhi. By road,  it is coneected to  Grand Trunk (GT)Road,Visitors by road has to leave GT Road near Aurangabad and travel just 20 Km to reach to Rafiganj. This place is easily accessible to visitors destined to Parshavnathji. Some express trains connecting Delhi-Parshvanath has stoppage  at Rafiganj Railway Station.

Unfortunately this divine place is in danger due to stone mining activities. Since last three years Local Mining Officer has allotted 7 ( seven ) stone blocks on lease to various parties. The local people are poor and weak in political approach so District mining Authority ignoring the  importance of this divine place  recommended for mining of stone. Local jain families have initiated the mission to protect thi beauty and heritage gifted to civilization by Jainism. We will meet Chief Minister of Bihar to convince him for declaring it as Jain Heritage and Tourist Place. We have a plan to develop this place like constructing Dharamshalla, schools, hotels , Ayurvedic hospitals and  afforestration, etc in long run.

In this connection, this place needs your kind attention. We invite people to visit this place and have blessings of deities. God will never return you with barren hands.

Help is solicited.

Yours truly,

Residents of Local Villages & Jain Families of Rafiganj, District –Aurangabad ( Bihar )
