JIV DAYA APPEAL

The Festival of Forgiveness - Paryushan Parva is around the corner. Lord Mahavir once

said that every living creature has a soul like ours and that every creature likes happiness and does not like suffering. Knowing this we can be empathetic to living beings’ suffering

and help them live their lives peacefully and happily. During these days of Paryushan,

the importance of Jiv Daya (care for all living creatures of the Universe) is emphasized

to inspire people to practice ahinsa in their lives. The concept of Jiv Daya is inherent in

rural areas: when farmers cannot afford to keep cattle at their place, they come to the doorsteps of a Panjrapole and leave their cattle with the hope that they will be better off

there and that the management of Panjrapole will take good care of them.

JAINA’s Jiv Daya Committee each year sends close to $20,000 to different Panjarapoles throughout different parts of India. Each year the Jiv Daya Committee invites informants

from different Panjrapoles and distributes funds on need basis. The Jiv Daya Committee

also supports different institutions for special causes like famine, draught and earthquake.

Gurudev Chitrabhanuji is also very actively supporting the cause by visiting some

institutions during his visit to India.

The Jiv Daya Committee will sincerely thank you for your donations towards this humble cause and for passing this message on to other members/organizations across USA. We Jains are steadfast believers of “Jiv Daya” and “Ahinsa.” Your contributions will add to your Punya and make a remarkable difference to any Jiv Daya cause.
