PRESIDENT KALAM IMPRESSES ICELANDERS
BY HIS VEGETARIAN DIET
During his recent visit to Icelend, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam impressed
the people of that country by his strictly vegetarian food habits. Knowing that
he did not take any non-vegetarian item in his meals, adequate care was taken
to ensure that all the items were strictly vegetarian. President Olankar
Sangrar Primsney of Icelend had made all necessary arrangements at a dinner
hosted by him in the honour of President kalam that all the people taking
dinner were served vegetarian food. The guests at the dinner liked the food
immensely and showed their full appreciation for President Kalam. In view
of his respect for ahimsa and compassion for animals, President Kalam has not
only won the hearts of millions of people in this country but he has come very
close to Jain community. He has great respect for Jain religion and its
principles of ahimsa and anekant.
