Special cancellation provided at Kundalpur on 22-2-2001

 Indian Postal Department provided a special
cancellation on 22-2-2001 at Kundalpur, a renowned
 Jain pilgrimage centre situated in Damoh District of
 Madhya Pradesh. The occasion was the
 Mahamastakabhisheka Ceremony of 12 feet idol of first
 Jain Tirthankar Bhagwan Adeenath on completing 1500
years of it's PRATISHTHA. This idol is popularly known
 as BADE BABA. There are 58 recognised temples on the
 hill and ground at Kundalpur. Large number of Jains
 visit here daily. On completion of 1500 years, a grand
 Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsawa function was organised
 here from 21st to 27th February 2001.

 On the initiation of Mr. sanjay Jain (Max), Convenor
 of Abhishek Samiti and persuasion of Indore Philatelic
 Society (President  Dr. Ravindra Pahalwan) and Central
 India Philatelic Society (Secretary Mr. Sudhir Jain),
 a special cancellation was provided by the Postal
 Department on 22-2-2001 which depicts flaying Indras
 showering holly water on the idol of Bhagwan Adeenath.
